About

With nearly 20 years experience in the music and audio technology industry, Stephanie’s career has taken her on a varied journey from classical musician and educator to product specialist, education manager, resource creator and media relations representative with some of the world’s leading software and hardware companies.
Stephanie took her first cello lessons at the age of 7 and, as a teenager, played with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. She continued her studies in cello and singing at the Royal Academy of Music, London, winning an award for the performance of Bach’s Cello Suites and gaining an honours degree from London University.
Education, Education, Education
Stephanie started her working life teaching music in a college, before switching to music technology and studio recording. In 1993, a series of educational music technology articles written for an industry magazine brought her to the attention of Steinberg, who invited her to produce a set of tutorials for their Cubase programs. Stephanie also accepted the company’s challenge to introduce Cubase into the education market on a worldwide basis and spent 7 years as Steinberg’s International Education Manager, based for part of that time in Germany. She also worked as a product specialist and scoring demonstrator as the company introduced significant developments to the notation features of its Cubase programs.
Stephanie returned to the UK to become International Sales and Marketing Manager at Sibelius Software, before turning freelance in 2003 and receiving a commission from Propellerhead Software to create a new educational resource “Teaching Music with Reason”. Stephanie has also created resources for other manufacturers including the “SONAR Music Projects” packaged with Cakewalk SONAR programs.
On The Record
An interest in rock music enabled Stephanie to explore new directions in her cello playing, swapping classical performance for studio recording sessions and live shows. She played on Marillion’s 2001 Anoraknaphobia album and guested on the band’s “A Piss Up In A Brewery” live DVD (re-manufactured in 2010). As a member of lead singer Steve Hogarth’s “h band”, she toured in the UK, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Italy and Spain. Stephanie has also played on Francis Dunnery’s “Man” album and co-wrote and performed one of the tracks on former Simple Minds keyboardist Mick MacNeil’s “People, Places, Things” album.
Media Focus
Creating resources and marketing materials gradually led to an involvement in press and media activities. In 2006, Stephanie began to specialise in this field, working with a range of clients that to date have included Synthax Audio UK / RME, Roland UK and Edirol Europe, Edinburgh Napier University Popular Music Industries, Technica del Arte (LUCI), Vicoustic, Systems Workshop Distribution, Fohhn Audio AG, JoeCo Ltd., and MSL Professional.
