MSL Professional relocates

Company growth sparks move to larger office space outside London

16th March 2012. MSL Professional is relocating its main company office to new facilities near Reading from 26th March. The move comes as the UK distribution company celebrates a successful end to its first year of trading. The choice of Wyvols Court Business Centre in Swallowfield means that MSL Professional will now be nearer to its logistics facility in Basingstoke, while still allowing easy motorway access for visitors as well as reduced travelling time for staff.

Established in March 2011, MSL Professional has built up a diverse portfolio of brands during its first year, including the JoeCo BlackBox Recorder and Player, MixVibes DJ hardware and software solutions, Sonoma Wire Works’ GuitarJack and the Two Notes Torpedo range of guitar amp/speaker simulation hardware and software. The company has also recently taken on distribution of the Markbass, DV Mark and Mark Drum brand ranges.

Commenting on the relocation, MSL Pro’s Managing Director Simon Lowther says: “We have been very happy in our London office, but because we have grown a little faster than expected and now have different requirements for space, it’s time to move! Having our office and logistics facilities closer to each other will make life a lot easier too. We would like to thank all our dealers and customers who have supported us to make this first year a success.”

Schertler adds JAM to its acoustic amplifier range

15th March 2012. Swiss manufacturer Schertler has added the JAM series of compact amplifiers to its acoustic amplification range (which also includes the Unico and David Deluxe and Classic series). Formerly branded by SR Technology, the updated Schertler JAM series adds a cost-effective, all-round option to the manufacturer’s quality range of amplifiers, which are designed for a variety of performance applications.

The updated compact 6″/1″ JAM 100 offers 100 watts of power, three independent channels (mic and line) and a digital reverb. The reverb has been updated for a more harmonious effect and more extensive usage. With 150 watts of bi-amplified power, the 8″/1″ JAM 150 is already a live performance favourite. Its onboard mixer enables simultaneous on-stage use of several instruments, offering XLR inputs with phantom power, send/return effects and EQ on all channels. The JAM 150 can also be used as a stage monitor, mounted on Schertler’s S1 monitor stand.

For more demanding performance requirements, the JAM 400 offers 400 watts of output via 2 x 8″ woofers and a 1″ horn. It includes a number of advanced features such as switchable subwoofer output, variable anti-feedback control, phantom power and multiple digital effects. A range of XLR, jack and phono inputs provide complete versatility and the potential for solo artists and small ensembles to perform with just a single lightweight amplifier.

The amps are available in a choice of wood or grey finishes.
Schertler JAM series amplifiers are now exclusively distributed in the UK and Eire by Systems Workshop.

Fohhn unleashes compact line array power at Prolight + Sound

Frankfurt preview for powerful new PT-6 compact line array system and new generation of electronically steerable line source speakers

8th March 2012.  Fohhn Audio AG previews the latest additions to its range of compact line array systems at Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt (Hall 8.0, Stand K90). Taking centre stage this year will be the German loudspeaker manufacturer’s new PT-6 plug & play compact line array and the Linea Focus Modular, latest addition to Fohhn’s flagship electronically steerable Linea Focus series.

The PT-6 high-performance line array unit has been specially developed to offer both powerful coverage and easy set-up. Sporting a twin coaxial speaker construction, it contains 6 x 6.5″ long excursion neodymium and 3 x 1.4″ compression drivers with a specially developed HF phase EQ. A vertical dispersion angle of 30 degrees guarantees excellent results even in venues with challenging acoustics, while a 110 degree horizontal dispersion angle makes the loudspeaker ideal for a wide range of sound reinforcement applications. The PT-6 can be stand-mounted, stacked or flown and used in a wide range of venues such as festival tents, clubs, open-air events and concert halls. For more power and greater flexibility, up to two PT-6 units can be combined using an integral safety mechanism that requires no additional tools.

Fohhn’s new Linea Focus Modular systems will now be available as three different active modules: two high-frequency units with 8 x 1″ or 16 x 1″ compression drivers, Waveguide and horn, and a low-mid module with 32 x 4″ long excursion speakers. The compact, visually unobtrusive modules are particularly suited to large venues with challenging acoustics. Units can be freely combined and cascaded, their long reach and directionality designed to ensure excellent reproduction of both speech and music.
